Who is in the HBO Village Green Honesty & Fairness group & Associates?
- This group is made up currently over 60 Parish members, and so consists of members who have a right to question the elected Parish councillors.
- Some members of the group are very experienced in business, and some are also experienced in Parish Council working and governance.
- Some members are very experienced in management and governance of charities.
- All members have an interest in how the money we all pay to the Parish Council through taxation is used.
What do we support?
- The group is very supportive of Village Green activities both in the sports clubs and other users of the Village Green.
- We are not anti-sport as some suggest. In fact, some members participate (and have participated in the past) in the various sports clubs and groups that use the Village Green and sports fields
- We support the development of a sports pavilion.
- We support the view that the Village Green has to be managed better, for the benefit of all in the Parish.
What are we looking to achieve?
Many of the current members of the Parish Council were elected on a manifesto promise of:
“Measured, considered, consultative decision-making. Complete transparency to ensure people are kept informed. An emphasis on positive action”
All we are looking for is:
- The promised transparency of process, that promised consultative decision-making.
- That where conflicts of interest are clear, the relevant councillors do not participate in the decision-making.
- That the Parish is consulted on matters that commit Parishioners to long term expenditure; and
- For the Parish Council to explain, when legitimately asked, why it is going down a particular route of action that commits large sums of money and a significant amount of its expenditure to certain areas.
We do not believe we are asking for anything other than what we, as parishioners with an elected Parish Council, should be able to.
We want to support decisions of the council, as long as these are legitimate and in the interest of the whole Parish
We have spoken to dozens of parish members who are asking these questions, that have a legitimate interest and who may wish to join our group; if that’s you, you would be very welcome.
